Impacts Assumed

The effects of displacement are not uniform across the affected population in these two areas. Vaduthala situated in the hub of the city have the all features of an urban community. They are mostly middle class going to the offices or industries for daily work. On the other hand, Smart City location is inhabited by farming community by tradition and so their pattern of life is different. Therefore though both the communities face displacement, the repercussion of displacement on these communities and the nature of problems they face are dissimilar.

The individual, family and community have to bear the multifaceted impacts of displacement such as:

• Cultures are disintegrated forever as the families lived in a fabric with sharing cultures face destabilization in the wake of displacement.

• Community networks which are built up over generations get disrupted which affects their interdependence in the community thus deteriorating the help ties.

• Isolation, loneliness, neglect, stress, anxiety, hopelessness, loss of self-esteem and loss of confidence in the future.

• They are suddenly exposed to a new working and living environment which more often can be hostile to them.

• Job offer do not inflame their hope since hi-tech facility do not have many low-skilled jobs to rehabilitate.
